Roberto González Goyri (1924–2007):
A native of Guatemala City, González Goyri was a multifaceted artist known for his paintings, sculptures, and murals. He studied at the National School of Fine Arts in Guatemala and further honed his skills in New York. González Goyri played a significant role in modernizing Guatemalan art, moving towards abstraction while retaining cultural narratives. His works have been showcased internationally, including at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. One of his renowned pieces is the relief on the facade of the Guatemalan Social Security Institute building.
