Rina Lazo (1923–2019):
Born in Guatemala City, Rina Lazo moved to Mexico, where she became a prominent painter and muralist. As a disciple and assistant of Diego Rivera, she contributed to several of his major projects. Lazo’s own murals often depict Mayan culture and history, aiming to preserve and celebrate indigenous heritage. Her work serves as a bridge between Guatemalan and Mexican artistic traditions.
