About Us

Zaraguate was created as a tribute to the memory of my father — a man whose life was deeply connected to the art and culture of Guatemala.

Born in 1942 and passed away in January 2025, my father was the first Director and Representative of the UNESCO office in Guatemala, President of the Patronato de Bellas Artes, and Director of Cultural Outreach at the Ministry of Culture under Minister Ana Isabel Prera. Trained as an architect at the University of San Carlos, he dedicated his life to supporting, promoting, and giving visibility to Guatemalan artists both locally and internationally.

His love for the arts — especially Guatemalan painting — made him not only a respected connoisseur, but also a true advocate for artists. He firmly believed in creating bridges between creators and audiences, beyond the traditional limitations of galleries.

The name “Zaraguate” was chosen by him. Today, this platform honors not only his memory, but his vision: an open, accessible and living space where art can circulate freely, with dignity, and without unnecessary barriers.

What is Zaraguate?

Zaraguate is a digital platform created to connect people who create, collect, promote, or simply love art.

Here, anyone can:

Publish artworks to exhibit or offer for sale
Discover new artists and collections
Connect directly with buyers, collectors, sellers, or galleries

Zaraguate does not participate in transactions, we do not charge commissions or act as intermediaries.
All sales, negotiations, and deliveries are arranged directly between the parties involved.

Who is it for?

•Artists who wish to showcase and promote their work
•Collectors or individuals who own artwork and wish to sell or assess it
•Galleries seeking visibility for pieces they no longer have space to exhibit
•Anyone who appreciates art and wants to discover, support, or connect

Our Commitment

Zaraguate is a tool, a showcase, and a tribute.
A way to continue the legacy of someone who dedicated his life to giving light to others.
A way to say: art deserves to be seen, shared, and lived.
